Lower Columbia Youth Football (Cowlitz Youth Football and Wahkiakum Youth Football League) fosters the appreciation of athletic competition among the youth of Cowlitz County and Wahkiakum County by establishing and improving competitive sports programs which teach good sportsmanship and nurture the ideals held in high esteem in the athletic community, including general participation of youth in sports as only one facet of the development and well being of an individual.

Order of teams are based on team standings. Point spreads are used where there are teams that have tied for standings position.

LCYF – Lower Columbia Youth Football:

• Our age and grade divisions ensure a safer environment for all players. Age and maturity are bigger factors to safety than a player’s weight. i.e. -Our mandatory play rules and rotations ensure playing time in every game.
• Teams are assigned based on a farming system.The league will make every attempt to place players on teams with other players that they may be going to school with. When a player is assigned a team he stays with that team until he moves to the next division of play. If your player is moving from the Jr. Division he has already be preassigned to a Sr. Division team based on the farming system. Parents that have players in both division will be please to know that their players will be on the same practice field. This has been done in an attempt to relieve the parents of unwanted travel between fields.
• Coaches receive training.
• All games officiated by Certified Football Officials. These are the same officials that officiate the High School games. All games are played by Approved League rules.
• Many of the games are played in High School Stadiums.
• No player will be asked to participate in any fund-raising.
• All games played on Saturday, locally within Cowlitz County, Wahkiakum County and there will be some Rainier games for the Junior division.
• ALL safety equipment is provided.
• No maximum or minimum player weight restrictions, ALL REGISTERED PLAYERS WILL PLAY. Everyone is WELCOME to play.
